The Message Board

This is NOT a general-interest supermarket-related message board; it is designed for the discussion of topics related to supermarket HISTORY and ARCHITECTURE. I encourage healthy ON-TOPIC discussions, but there is limited space on this board, and it cannot be all things to all people.

1. Acceptable topics:

  • Supermarket history
  • Supermarket architecture (preferably pre-1980)
  • Operations and corporate structure in HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE.
  • Historical operations of other chain retailers and related businesses WHEN RELEVANT TO A SUPERMARKET-RELATED TOPIC.
  • Stories about PRE-1980 supermarket experiences, etc., or current experiences with a HISTORICAL TIE-IN.

2. Unacceptable topic examples:

  • Topics not ultimately related to supermarket history and architecture.
  • Customer service issues.
  • Store-bashing.
  • Strikes and current labor issues.
  • Current store operations which are not directly related to a history issue.
  • How can I find "such and such person" inquries.
  • "Does anyone know how much this is worth?" and other collectibles inquiries.
  • Abusive behavior or rude comments directed toward me or toward other users of the board.
  • Advertisments for other sites (although links to material related to an ON-TOPIC post are OK).
  • Advertisments for any product, service, or merchandise of ANY KIND.
  • One-on-one conversations not of general interest to the board (these should be conducted via email or other means).

I don't weant to sound like a jerk, but it's my board and I have to set limits. If you'd like to set up your own board with a different topic base, I urge you to visit Boardhost.com and I may very well even offer you a link.

If you're looking to discuss supermarket-related topics OTHER than history and architecture, may I recommend this board?
